Frequently Asked Questions
Catlog has two parts that work together:
The Collar This is what your cat wears. It's rechargeable, lightweight (25g), and tracks seven types of behavior: eating, drinking, running, walking, grooming, resting, and sleeping.
The Home Hub This small device plugs into any outlet via USB cable. It does three things:
● Receives data from the collar throughout the day
● Charges the collar when you dock it (takes about 2 hours)
● Measures room temperature so you can see if your home is too hot or cold for your cat
The collar syncs with the hub, which sends everything to the app on your phone.
Catlog monitors seven core behaviors throughout the day:
● Eating- When and how often your cat eats
● Drinking - Water intake patterns (especially important for kidney health)
● Running - High-intensity bursts of activity
● Walking - General movement around the house
● Grooming - Self-cleaning behavior (over-grooming can signal stress or
allergies)
● Resting - Awake but inactive periods
● Sleeping - Deep sleep cycles
The collar also tracks:
● Breathing rate when your cat is at rest
● Body temperature (surface temperature during rest periods)
All of this gets translated into daily
patterns, health scores, and alerts when something changes.
Yes, through behavior patterns that indicate stress:
● Over-grooming - Excessive licking or cleaning (anxiety, allergies, skin issues)
● Reduced eating - Stress suppresses appetite
● Changes in activity - Pacing, restlessness, or hiding more than usual
● Sleep disruption - Trouble settling or frequent wake-ups
The app can flag when these behaviors spike. Common stress triggers include:
● New pets or people in the home
● Moving or renovations
● Changes in routine
● Illness or pain
If Catlog shows unusual stress patterns, you can correlate it with what was happening that day and address the cause.
Catlog emits about 1/1000th the electromagnetic waves of your phone - your cat gets more exposure sitting near
your laptop. There's no scientific evidence these minimal levels affect cats.
We also made sure Catlog is essentially silent. Cats hear frequencies we don't, so we selected parts that produce zero audible noise your cat could hear.
The collar uses a breakaway clasp that releases under pressure if your cat gets snagged. Proper fitting is key: snug enough for two fingers to slide underneath, but not so loose your cat can get their jaw caught. We include fitting instructions with every collar, and you should check the fit weekly.
Right now, Catlog is available in three countries:
● Japan (http://rabo.cat/)
● United States
● Australia (https://www.amazon.com.au/)
If you're in one of these countries, you get the full experience: product shipping, subscription service, and customer support from our team.
We're working on expanding to more countries soon. If you're outside these regions and want updates on when Catlog launches near you, email us at hello@shopcatlog.com and we'll let you know when it's available.
No. Catlog doesn't track location - it tracks health.
We built Catlog for wellness, not whereabouts. Instead of telling you here your cat is, we tell you how your cat is. We monitor eating patterns, drinking habits, activity levels, rest quality, and breathing rate - the behaviors that signal early health problems.
If you need to find your cat, GPS trackers do that job well. But if you want to catch kidney disease before symptoms show up, or know if your cat's drinking more water at 3 AM when you're asleep, that's what Catlog does.
Different tools, different purposes. We chose to focus on the one that saves vet bills and keeps cats healthier longer.
No. We wish we could promise that, but wecan't.
Catlog is an early warning system, not a
medical device. It doesn't diagnose diseases, prevent illness, or replace your
vet. What it does is track behavioral patterns that often change when something's wrong - sometimes days or weeks before you'd notice on your own.
Think of it like this: Catlog gives you data to bring to your vet. "My cat's drinking pattern changed three days ago" is much more useful than "she just seems off lately." Your vet makes the diagnosis and treatment plan. Catlog makes sure you get to the vet sooner rather than later.
If you're worried about your cat right now, don't wait for Catlog data - call your vet. Early detection helps, but it's not a substitute for professional veterinary care when something's already wrong.
Yes, the subscription is $14.99/month (or $11/month if you purchase an annual subscription). The subscription covers cloud data storage, algorithm updates, health alerts, and customer support. Cancel anytime - no contract.
The Catlog Collar without AI analysis makes it a normal collar. The value in Catlog is continuous monitoring, pattern detection, and health alerts - that requires cloud processing, vet-reviewed algorithms, and ongoing development.
Catlog needs 2 weeks to establish your
cat's baseline behavior patterns. You'll see activity data immediately, but the
real value - detecting changes from normal - doesn't kick in until the algorithm learns what's normal for your specific cat.
Think of it like this: if your cat always drinks at 3 AM, that's not a red flag. But if your cat suddenly starts drinking at 3 AM when they never did before, that's worth investigating. Catlog can only spot changes once it knows your cat's routine
Catlog needs a stable WiFi connection to
send data from the collar to your app. Most home networks work fine, but here are a few router settings that can cause connection issues.
The short version:
● Catlog connects via 2.4GHz WiFi (not 5GHz)
● Your router needs to allow the device to connect
● Some "speed optimization" features an actually block Catlog
If you're tech-savvy, here's the full list. If this looks overwhelming, contact our Support team at hello@shopcatlog.com
and we'll walk you through it.
Router settings checklist:
Must-have settings:
● Enable 2.4GHz network - Catlog Doesn't work on 5GHz. If your router auto-switches between bands, set it to prefer 2.4GHz
● Use WPA2 encryption - Catlog doesn't support WPA3 (the newest standard). Set your network to WPA2 or WPA/WPA2 mixed mode
● Connection method: PPPoE (IPv4) - Catlog doesn't support IPoE or IPv6. Check with your internet provider if you're not sure which you have
Settings that can block Catlog:
● Disable Stealth Mode - This hides your network from devices trying to Connect
● Turn off MAC address filtering - Or manually add Catlog's MAC address to your allowed devices list
● Disable "high-speed roaming" or network acceleration features - These
sometimes kick Catlog off the network
● Turn off WiFi 6 - Catlog uses older WiFi standards (WiFi 4/5)
● Disable mesh networking - If you have a mesh system, Catlog may struggle to maintain connection as it switches between nodes
● Disable SSL filtering and HTTPS
proxy - Catlog doesn't support proxy connections
If you have multiple routers/access
points:
● Give each access point a unique SSID (network name). If they all share the ame name, Catlog can get confused switching between them
Check your device limit: Some routers cap how many devices can connect at once. Make sure you haven't hit that limit.

At least 6 months old. Younger kittens arestill growing too fast for a consistent fit.
Measure their neck first, and watch themclosely for the first few days to make sure they're comfortable.
Pills and injections? No problem - leavethe collar on.
Topical medications applied to the neck(like flea treatments or dewormers)? Take the collar off first. These medications can damage the device if they get on the sensor or collar material.
Wait at least 24 hours after applyingmedication before putting Catlog back on. This gives it time to fully absorband dry.
Remove the collar before X-rays or MRIs. Medical imaging equipment and electronics don't mix well - it could affect the scan
results or damage Catlog's sensors.
Sorry, no. Catlog is engineered specifically for how cats move, eat, sleep, and behave. Dogs (and other animals) are wired completely differently, so the algorithms won't work.
Plus, it voids your warranty. We love all
pets, but we built this one just for cats.
No Data:
Catlog couldn't collect information during that time. Usually happens when:
● The collar was charging
● WiFi connection was interrupted
● The collar wasn't on your cat
Uncategorized: Catlog recorded activity but couldn't figure out what your cat was doing. This happens occasionally with unusual movements or positions the algorithm hasn't learned yet.Small gaps are normal. If you're seeing a lot of "No Data" or "Uncategorized," check your WiFi connection or contact support.
Co-Parents can see your cat's health data in the app even though they didn't set up the account. Perfect for partners, roommates, or family members who help care for your cat.
